CSV Variables for Mail Merge

CSV Formatting

Your CSV file should follow these guidelines:

• First row contains column headers (these become your variables)
• Use consistent data formats throughout
• Avoid special characters in headers
• UTF-8 encoding recommended

Example:

first_name,last_name,company,email
John,Smith,Acme Corp,john@acme.com
Jane,Doe,Tech Inc,jane@tech.com

Variable Mapping

Column headers automatically become variables:

• first_name → {{first_name}}
• company → {{company}}

Tips:

• Use lowercase, underscore-separated names
• Be descriptive but concise
• Avoid spaces in header names

Common Issues

1. Encoding problems - Ensure UTF-8 encoding
2. Missing data - Set default values for empty cells
3. Special characters - Escape quotes properly
4. Large files - Outboxer handles large CSVs efficiently
